My Story

Posted by gigigriffis under other
Gigi Griffis, Denver humorist and blogger, and her little dog too My name is Gigi. I’m mostly a writer and humorist, but I also do website content, drink fine wines and laugh a lot. Obviously, I also blog.

I’ve lived a lot of places. This blog chronicles my life from Virginia to Pennsylvania to New York City and tons of smaller trips throughout the world (Australia, Botswana, Thailand, Peru, Costa Rica, Morocco, etc.). In all, 24 countries and 25 states. I live in Denver, Colorado now because it is beautiful and I love the people here.

Since I have moved a lot, it follows logically that I’ve worked in a variety of places and situations. I’ve been in sales, design, waitressing, web technology, advertising and the mail room. Not in that order.

Presently, I write stuff, optimize content, put together social media strategies and manage a variety of online content projects for places like Grand Junction, Grand Rapids and Whistler.

Also in line with the frequent location changes, this blog chronicles several years of extravagantly failed dating. From Craigslist online posting responders (including Hell’s Angels, men with foot fetishes and a certain fictional character who wears green tights) to speed dating in downtown Denver. My track record of dating men who loved me, then lost their minds (a new way to think about loved and lost, eh?) is what inspired my first book.

And, Also, My Palms Are Sweaty is the working title of my book. Right now I’m in the process of a re-write that includes So Much More Amazingness. You can read an excerpt here.

My dog’s name is Luna, after the character in Harry Potter. This is because I am a literature nerd, not because my puppy is anything like Luna Lovegood.

When she’s not training to be a therapy dog, Luna enjoys fetching almost anything (except for plastic bags, which she is deathly and inexplicably afraid of), licking any book I might happen to be reading and attempting to steal ping pong balls from my colleagues when they’re playing Olympic Ping Pong. She also wishes she had a friend and keeps asking for a puppy for Christmas.
